Once, while Shiva and Parvati were wandering, they saw a rock at this place, on which Parvati rested. While resting, Parvati began to experience immense peace and joy. Then a child came there and sat at her feet. Seeing all this, Mother Parvati was very surprised and asked Shankarji, why am I feeling so happy and peaceful at this place and why is this boy pressing my feet? Then Lord Shankar told her that when Goddess became Sati in her previous birth, a part of body’s blood and flesh fell here, which is contained in the womb of this rock. This child is a form of that blood and since then, he has been protecting this rock considering it to be the form of his mother and he is worshipping you with the desire to have your darshan, which has been fulfilled today. Then the mother said, my heart is eager to stay here with my son. Then Lord Shankar said, O Goddess, you should stay here in Vilvaka area, which is four miles from the Ganga. In Kaliyuga, you will reside in this faraway place and, as Sarvamangala Devi, you will do good to your devotees. This child will be known as Laguria. In ancient times, due to the abundance of vine leaves in this area, the area was named Vilvakada and the Bilwan village of this village which later changed to Belon and also of the mother the second name was Maa Bela Bhavani. Over time, the Samam Chakra changed. As the place of the mother was surrounded by a garden of Bel leaves, it sank a little underground over time and a hollow was formed here, at a distance of two furlongs from which the village people had a settlement which was called Kheda. It is known that the people of that settlement used to come here to get water and cut grass with their hoes etc., due to which a hole was formed on the head of the Mother Goddess, which can be seen even today. After the change of time, two theories were told about the re-establishment of the Mother Goddess and the construction of the temple. Various beliefs are prevalent. According to the first belief, this land belonged to the Gwalior state and the Maharaja of Gwalior built the temple. According to the second belief, it is heard that with the changing of the time cycle, Rao Bhup Singh The temple was built as per the Mother’s orders. Even today, people remember Rao Bhup Singh by his corrupted name (Pop Singh) and by reciting verses dedicated to the Mother.
